I started doing this Schedule Grid for my own personal use some years ago because it made it much easier to rank players when you could visualize their Schedules in this fashion: team by team, week by week.
The way my Schedule Grid is set up you can see players heading into Hot Streaks or Cold Streaks, tell who you should have on your bench as an alternate. When your Starting RB is facing a challenging Defense, it does little good to have a back-up who's facing even tougher.
Eventually, for my Exclusive "Snack Time" Strength of Schedule Rankings, I use a Color Coding System to project the relative strengths and weaknesses of opponents' Defenses. This will be released sometime this Summer.
Meantime, for Fantasy Owners who want to get a jump on their Player Rankings we are offering our Schedule Grids in two Packages:.
First we have a Simple Grid, which is a pdf you cannot alter or modify.
Secondly we have an Advanced Grid, where you receive the Grid in its original Excel Spreadsheet format. For Owners who can operate in Excel this is an extremely useful tool when making comparisons. Say you are trying to decide between Adrian Peterson and Steven Jackson. You simply copy the rows with Minnesota and St. Louis to blank rows right beside each other. It is then easy to see who's got the more favorable Schedule. In addition, once you have your Starter, you can see side-by-side comparisons of who you want on your bench when your Starter either has a Bye Week or faces a challenging Defense. The week Matt Forte faces the Vikings Run Defense, it does no good to have Jamal Lewis versus Pittsburgh when Julius Jones is playing St. Louis.
One thing I do suggest, however, though I do not wish to insult anyone's intelligence, is to download the original file to your hard drive, back it up and work off copies. This is a lesson I learned the hard way myself, believe me.
Remember to check back through the Summer so you can buy my Exclusive "Snack Time" Rankings once they are released.
